About the Course

TECO is teaming up with Healthy Homes to provide your sales and technical professionals with a timely and unique training opportunity. According to a recent survey conducted by McGraw-Hill Construction Research & Analytics for the U.S. Green Building Council, green building in 2008 was expected to represent 6 percent of the residential construction industry, three times the amount in 2005. With the recent downturn in new home construction, the one major area that is not experiencing the slump is the construction of verifiable, environmentally-responsible homes. By attending this training, builders, building material suppliers, realtors and architects will learn what makes a home ‘green’ and why it matters to your clients, to your business, and most importantly, to the environment.

Who Should Attend?

Anyone interested in learning more about the technology and marketing of green building and green building certification, including architects, designers, realtors, builders, and building material suppliers. This program is an excellent employee development opportunity to make your staffers more valuable in the market, and help them differentiate themselves and your company from the competition.

What Will They Learn?

Learn how to incorporate green building practices into the home projects you design, build, sell, or supply and learn how the NAHB Green Building Certification program works.

Building Inspection
  • 7 hours of training of general home building practices and how they relate to green building design and construction
  • Basics of the NAHB Green Building Certification program
  • Brief introduction to other green building programs, including Wisconsin’s Green Built Homes™, LEED for Homes, and Energy Star Qualified Homes

Builders who want their homes certified to meet the NAHB National Green Building Standards are required to work with Green Building Verifiers such as TECO. This course will allow you to become familiar with the Green Building certification process that is required to be conducted by independent, third-party verifiers who will confirm that a builder has followed the necessary guidelines and has properly installed the appropriate appliances, equipment and other construction components and systems.
